In Memoriam: Lynn Yamada Davis ’78
Lynn Yamada Davis ’78, known for her viral “Cooking with Lynja” videos, passed away at 67 on Jan. 1 from complications of esophageal cancer. Yamada Davis graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Course 1 and was a former Chairperson of The Tech.
Yamada Davis’s “Cooking with Lynja” began in 2020 and amassed over 17 million followers on TikTok, nearly 10 million subscribers on YouTube, and more than 2 million followers on Instagram.
Yamada Davis’s wholesome videos gained attention due to their popularity with viewers across different generations. She was included on Forbes’ Annual “50 over 50” list, as well as winning the “Streamy Awards” honoring online videos in the editing and food categories in 2022. She also attended the 2023 Forbes Women’s Summit in Abu Dhabi as a panelist. Yamada Davis was also an avid traveler, sampling the local cuisine wherever she went and meeting people along the way.
