Bad news for those sick of rain

Last night, the high pressure system that gave us sunny weather over the past two days slid offshore, taking the clear skies and dry weather with it. The dominant feature over the next two days will be a low pressure system currently spinning over Ontario, trailing a cold front to its south. Rain will be likely tonight and tomorrow morning ahead of this front. Otherwise, today and tomorrow you can expect cloudy skies and a high temperature around 70°F (21°C).

The cold front will push through tomorrow, clearing out the rain by mid-afternoon and leaving gusty winds in its wake. Thursday should be cooler and sunny, with a high in the low 60s°F (around 15°C). Finishing out the week, another round of showers is possible Friday thanks to an upper-level disturbance approaching New England and stalled front at the surface to our south. Temperatures should be similar to Thursday, with a high temperature in the low 60s°F (around 16°C).

Are you sick of rain after last week’s showers? Although many of us might not be looking forward to the possibility of more rain this week, Boston certainly needs it — according to the U.S. drought monitor, Boston is currently under a moderate drought. As of October 6, Boston lags 3.42 inches behind its normal year-to-date rainfall.
